Hunter Guide

This guide was given to us by a good friend from Hong Kong who says that he got it from uloveme soon after uloveme got 99 in the hunter skill. He was kind enough to translate it for us from the original chinese written guide. He does not want to be recognized officially for providing this guide but we thank him for it.

Please refer to the official Runescape site for detail information on xp and locations.

There are 3 basic rules that will increase your chance of a catch:
1. Wear appropriate clothing for that particular location; for example, full jungle camo for hunting in a jungle.
2. After level 39, always use a lit torch to decrease your human scent; that includes bird snaring, butterfly netting, deadfall, box trapping, rabbit snaring, and net trapping.
3. The higher your hunter level, the more traps you can lay (please refer to the Runescape guide). These include bird snaring, box trapping, rabbit snaring, and net trapping.

Hunter Level 1 to 4: Crimson Swift
Location: Feldip hunter area
Equipment: Bird snare

Level 5 to 8: Golden Warbler
Location: Uzer hunter area
Equipment: Bird snare

Level 9 to 10: Copper Longtail
Location: Piscatoris hunter area
Equipment: Bird snare

Level 11 to 18: Cerulean Twitch
Location: Trollweiss hunter area
Equipment: Bird snare

Level 19 to 24: Tropical Wagtail
Location: Feldip hunter area
Equipment: Bird snare x 2, lit torch, tinderbox

Level 25 to 34: Sapphire Glacialis
Location: Trollweiss hunter area
Equipment: Butterfly net, butterfly jug

Level 35 to 44: Snowy Knight
Location: Trollweiss hunter area
Equipment: Butterfly net, butterfly jug

Level 45 to 52: Black Warlord
Location: Piscatoris hunter area
Equipment: Butterfly net, butterfly jug

Level 53 to 62: Chinchompa
Location: Piscatoris hunter area
Equipment: Box trap x 3, lit torch, tinder box

Level 63 to 99: Red Chinchompa
Location: Feldip hunter area
Equipment: Box trap x 5, lit torch, tinder box

TIPS:
1. When catching birds and Chinchompa, bring extra bird snares or box traps; random events could make you loose equipment. Bringing extra will save you bank trips; bring at least 10!
2. When catching butterflies, make sure you bring extra butterfly jugs. When the jugs are full, release the butterflies to reuse the jugs again! You should also stand beside spots where the butterflies respawn to save time.
3. When catching Chinchompa and Red Chinchompa, besides bring the standard box traps, lit torch and tinderbox, bring a butterfly net and 3 butterfly jugs. This will enable you to hunter two species at the same time for more xp. There is no need to bring bait for the Chinchompa and Red Chinchompa, smoke is enough to increase your chance of catching one. If there are a lot of players catching Chinchompa and Red Chinchompa, switch to a server with less people. Chinchompa and Red Chinchompa only use 1 bag space, so there is no need to go between bank and hunting area.
