Tips For Getting Charms For Summoning
Lately I have been doing slayer for 99 attack as some of you may have noticed with my recent posts. While I have been slaying I have come across a few good monsters to get charms from.
For the gold charms, I found that they are good to collect from quite a few monsters, but the best I would have to say would be the ice warriors and giants. A good place to get green charms would be bloodvelds because they drop them regularly and are good training and quick to kill for high levels.
While slaying greater demons, I found that they gave lots of crimson charms, but a mate of mine has told me that waterfiends give crimson charms about 99% of the time, not sure I’d try it, but if any of you have tried it or want to try it please let us know how it goes. As for the blue charms, I found that gargoyles gave them about 10% of the time, although I was getting other good drops such as rune full helms, granite mauls and other charms. So far they seem to be the best. Another good monster to kill for blue charms is kalphite soldiers as meantioned in crowlion’s comment. Shady Boi, meantioned that rock crabs were another good monster to kill for charms, as seen below in the comments.
After 2 days of doing slayer for attack experience I have gained close to 2 attack levels, 1 hitpoint level, 1 slayer level and have collected in total over 400 charms including 146 gold, 155 green, 83 crimson and 32 blue. For those of you who don’t know how to get the shards that jagex fixed up with the update just talk to the pickupstix guy and he will give you the shards that he owes you, I got around 9k when I spoke to him. 
For low level summoners I suggest doing the spirit scorpion pouches as they are quick and good experience, to get the bronze claws for it you can buy them on the general exchange or make them yourselves, I found that you get under 2k experience per load.
To get a gecko you have to catch it just east of the harpie bug swarms on karmaja, you will need a box trap. For a pet puppy you have to talk to one of the pet shop owners and pay 500gp for one. If you want a penguin all you have to do is talk to the penguin keeper at ardrougne zoo and he will give you an egg to put in an incubator at one of the pet shops.
To feed the geckos, they require flies which you can buy at the pet shop, for the puppies they need to be fed raw beef and the penguins likes to eat raw fish.

The penguin egg takes about 30 minutes of playing time to hatch, being logged out won’t work as I tried that last night, and woke up and it still wasn’t hatched.

Some nice tips here about summoning and getting charms. I wonder what use the pets will be? No doubt a quest will come out which will need one.
Kalphite Soldiers had a fairly good ratio of blue charms, as mentioned in previous post.

Yes, As A First Resort did come out, but it did not require summoning to do it. Platypus’ need 10 summoning to catch after the quest, they eat raw fish, which is the same as the penguin. I prefer to get charms through slayer, as it’s good experience, good loot and gives decent amounts of charms. I can’t wait til there is a new quest to require pets…. not lol. Thanks for the tip about the kalphite soldiers, I’ll add them to the post now.

baskilisk are best for green charms drops about 80 percent of time

Abyssal demons now drop charms and they seem to drop quite a good percentage of crimson charms. I got 58 of them from a 181 slayer task.

That’s good about abyssal demons dropping charms, can’t wait til i get 85 slayer, under 900k to go
Hellhounds are great for gold charms, I got 104 gold from 152 hellhounds. Will do a post about them later on tonight.

ok.. but i cannot seem to get shards from Pikupstixx as mentioned above when u said you got like 9k, and is there a safe spot to mage rock crabs?

you only get the shards from pickupstixx if you used some before the update came in. I don’t think there is a safespot for rock crabs, but they rarely hit even on 1 def pures, I know the giant rock crabs have a safe spot near the daganoth lair, but you need two people to go through the door.

rock crabs and giants are gd drops as well i got from killing 200 90 gold and 30 green and 13 blue and 3 crimson

a really good monster to kill for charms are cockroach soilders, there fairly easy to kill and drop alot of crimson =)

I haven’t killed them since the dungeon was added, how often are the crimsons?

fire giants r really good droppers of charms they will hav a charm in there drop nearly 90% of the kills

Delarue i know he posted that long ago but now rock crabs drop gold charms mostly and not very often, so there not worth killing for charms

I would recommend fire giants, I’ve gotten one charm a kill (mostly gold) and they are pretty easy to get to. Just go brimhaven dungeon, it’s pretty easy to get to, requires 905gp, but you can get a lot of charms. I’m doing this for a penguin, I really like ‘em in real life.

NOTE!!!!!If you go to RuneScapeWiki, and it says go to ankous, thats stupid. They don’t drop it common, fire giants are MUCH better.

Thanks for the info GIJeff, I forgot to add the fire giants in, which is surprising because I kill them all the time at the waterfall dungeon. You can enter the brimhaven dungeon for free if you wear the karamaja gloves.

hey, im lvl 62 summoning and all i do is go and kill waterfiends and each one you kill you get 1 crimson charm and i get roughly 50 crimsons 5 blues and 10 golds a trip, im level 117 and take neit helm black d hide glory climb boots ragon gloves with a saradomin sword. Other methods you can use is barrelchest anchor, zammy spear, guthans, or if your will to make a sacrafice take dh and get down to 17 hp, the max they can hit is a 11 so watch ur hp.

Hey, i got 70 summoning recently, i obtained charms doing slayer thanks to del and crow for ur help/advice
, I had alot of cave horror tasks for some reason and i found they dropped a fair amount of crims and greens , i think on average after about 170 kills i would get about , 50-60 crims 50-70 greens 3-7 blues and a few golds,
anyway have fun collecting charms

I kill Water Fiends for slayer all the time, they drop crims like crazy, I see ppl living down there for the crims. If your a high lvl thats your number one place( Unless you wanna blow mills on barrage at granites =)))

I’m 136 and I want 138 soooo bad! It’s unbearable but getting 99 Summoning takes quite awhile. I might just barrage a couple of Rock Lobsters instead. Max mage ftw.

Cows are good for green charms I got 7 green charms/10 mins and my cb is only 55

Lol guys ,if you want 2k charms per day (bout 950-1k crimsons 500 gold 50 blue and 450 green) do rock lobsters with ancient spells.It’s very fast but can get boring after a certain amount of time.

i sorry for bad english i look you up on runescape highscore and you haves 99 summoner you make guide to heelp other peoples who need high summoners becaues i find it too much hard to get charmers to use at oblieske and best wolfs to make so if you can do this very soon much apperciate.

i have found jogre are a good sorce of charms with green, crimson and gold charms they also drop blue charms but are quite rare
