Slaying Bloodvelds

I just finished a task that was given to me by duradel in shilo village, he assigned me to kill 172 bloodvelds. Usually I would range them but since I’m going for 99 attack through slayer I thought that I would try to melee them for a change. I mentioned in my previous post that bloodvelds were good for experience and for charms, I got around 80-90k attack experience from these, which puts me about 9k from 92 attack.
Bloodvelds are level 76 and have 120hp and give 120 slayer experience per kill, they have low melee stats, but they use a mage type melee attack.This means you will have to use magic defence, I suggest using black dragonhide as it has good defence against magic. Getting all that slayer experience for a quick kill comes in handy when you want to raise your slayer quickly.
The equipment I used to kill them included:
- Full guthans
- 1 super set (4)
- 17 sharks
- enchanted gem
- Quick teleport out, or you can use karmaja gloves 3 for your next task
- black dragonhide body and chaps
- dragon boots
- black mask
- fury amulet, can use glory
- fire cape, you can use a god cape from mage arena, if not a skill cape or obsidian cape
- barrows gloves, or your highest gloves
- ring of wealth
- rune defender
- abyssal whip
Some items I suggest but forgot would be some fire and nature runes so you can alch your drops you get like rune medium helmet, mithril chainbody and mithril square shield. You may also notice that you get some black boots drops, they sell on the general exchange for around 800gp, so they might be worth keeping if you have the room.
At the end of the task I ended up with 95 charms including 15 golds, 68 green, and 11 crimson, unfortunately no blues, but I think I got some last time I killed bloodvelds. They also drop a fair amount of bloods, I finished up with 95 bloods, 2 black boots, 2 rune medium helms, 2 mithril chains, 1 grimy dwarf weed and 1 mithril square shield.
If you ever get this task I highly recommend using melee as it makes the task go alot quicker then using range, and for the experience and the drops you get I don’t see why anyone would want to skip this task.

Nice post about Bloodvelds.
I had them quite a bit on they way to 85 slayer, but often ranged them due to my then low combat stats. They are one of the best monsters to get as a slayer task and I often found high level ranges practice on them. There seems to be good green charm rewards too.

I recently completed another bloodveld task, thought id try the mutated bloodvelds that came out with legacy of seergaze, they are good for gold charms and a number of decent drops which range from elemental runes to rune knives and alot more. The area is multi combat and they are 126 and 146 combat. I found them too hard to melee due to my low defence, but they weren’t bad with a cannon and normal range gear.
Still prefer to kill the normal bloodvelds as they are quicker and give greens more often rather then getting golds from these.

add a section about mutated blood-velds, watt i normally like about your site is that it goes into allot of detail however you have missed mutated ones, which are ones people struggle with mostly. i would love to hear from you in-game i would gladly help you with a few parts of the site i am 89 slayer atm 30k from 90 so i kinda know my stuff

2nd thoughts, guthans is only 3.4mil! i might just get that instead…anyways, nice guide guys, got impatient so just brang glory…it was a good choice tho! 140 to go still, i’ve already got ALOT of charms for amount of time there…mainly greens. Thanks for the AWSOME guide, if u have other guides please tell me!

they will do a good job putting my summoning up!
lol. i got 35, thinking about going for 52…but not sure yet…need a good blue charm dropper…u kno any good blue charm droppers? i would apreciate it. 
P.S. if your gonna say those things in the desert…plz dont…I ABSOLUTELY HATE THEM!!!

I hate going in the desert too lol. As for the summoning thing, I wouldn’t aim to get blue charms, there isn’t that many decent droppers, go for crimson charms for quick experience, blue charms are just a bonus if you get them.
Good luck I recommend getting 68 for the bunyip, helps a lot with slayer.

mmmmm, i would…but bunyip will take alot of time…and will put my combat up alot…im not too sure about getting my summoning any higher then 52 for the moment…maybe after i get 90+ str, but not right now…
when u said to collect crimson, do u mean get obby and crimson? and make those fire bird thingys… the ones with the wierd names like tzhaar-ket..etc?

i just decided to buy it…its a good idea to have it, especially coz im thinking about getting a fire cape some time soon…you got any guides on the fire cape? plz let me kno.

im back killing the bloodvelds, i got guthans now.
and i also bought a black mask…im kinda following ur guide…except im using a dragon scimmitar…thats the only major change…but yea…i still love your guide! when i get a new task, if its something i dont get often i might need a bit of ur advice…

Just make the best thing you can with the crimsons, I can’t remember what I made back at those levels. I can’t add you sorry my friends list is full, my user is delarue64, and I don’t have msn. We don’t have any guides for the fire cape yet, but will make one soon.
Yeah you don’t have to follow my guide 100% it’s just to give people ideas of what to take, I used dragon scimmy and godswords when I did strength I think.

okay, tyvm…well, is it possible that when ur jad/fire cape guide comes out…you can delete one of ur friends and message me (i’ll keep private on)? once you’ve got onto me u can delete me again and re-add other person. if not i guess i’ll just have to visit here very often…:(
tyvm tho, i think its some sort of bat, vampire bat i think, thats the best i can make with crimson, i will do that after my slayer task (iron drags). i got 18more iron drags to go, i just got d skirt…:)
anyways, tyvm for this guide and ty for deciding to make a fire cape guide also, im sure many people other then me also will b very greatful.
P.S. are you also able to keep private on for the time, until u release jad/fire cape guide. i’ve just added u, (do wat i do plz, delete the noobs that never go on rs and add all the kwl ppl!)

for hell hounds it is best to range them they take a hell of ammo but its that or take 12s
recomended range armor: cheap black dhide or blessed dhide
rune crossbow
broad bolts or emerald (e)
and what ever else you have
