My Trip To Barrows
Last night I did a few trips to barrows (which I haven’t done for about 6 months). On the first trip I recieved an Ahrims Robeskirt and some death, mind and chaos runes. The second trip I didn’t have so much success although I did get about 3,000 coins and lots of runes.
When I went to try on the third trip, I forgot my spade because I banked everything at Varrock and went to buy the battlestaffs for the day. So I travelled to Burge De Rott to collect my spade from the bank, I was doing well, I killed them all except when I was up to Guthans I forgot that he wasn’t fully killed and went up the stairs then realised what I did, so I went back down killed him with 4 dds specials. Now all I had left was Ahrims in the tunnel. I thought that this should be easy as I had a good magic defence from karils top and skirt, I was wrong I nearly died from lag got down to 20 hitpoints then i managed to heal myself up and finish Ahrims off (because the lag had stopped). When I got up to the chest I saw somebody get a Guthans Warspear, I thought that all the luck from the chest would be gone. I was wrong, when I opened the chest I got a big surprise, I got my first ever double drop. The drop gave me Torags hammers and helmet, runes, and some coins.
The items I take to barrows are:
- spade
- super set
- 2 prayer pots (4)
- house teleport tablet
- karils top and skirt
- mage shortbow or crystal bow
- 1000 mind
- 200 death runes
- ddp++ (dds)
- whip
- slayer staff
- glory or fury amulet
- helm of neitznoit
- skill cape (t)
- rune defender
- fighter torso or rune platebody
- rune platelegs
- dragon boots
- 100 rune arrows
- Barrows gloves
- ring of life (is a must incase you lag)
- and around 13 sharks
On some trips I don’t need to use any prayer pots on other trips I use up to 2 doses depending on the time it takes to kill Dharocks, Ahrims and Karils. The order I kill all 6 brothers is Dharock, Karil, Ahrim, Verac, Torag then Guthans last (depending on which one is your tunnel). I always leave the tunnel brother till last as it is easier and doesnt take as long to do the trip. I use magic dart to kill the melee brothers, DDS specials and whip to kill Karil and mage or crystal bow to kill Ahrim. After the trips and once I have collected the loot from the chest I teleport to my POH (player owned house) and use my altar to get my prayer back up and then teleport to canifis with the portal.
Maybe one day I will be able to get a Guthans Warspear of my own, until then there is no harm in trying for it.

Wow, you certainly did have some luck there. 2 Barrows items in one go, I have never heard of that before. I do not do barrows, due to my poor magic level and lack of knowledge, but perhaps now I should?

yes, getting 2 items in one go is very rare to get.
and yes i do recommend you do some barrows as it is easy for cash and for high levels we rarely need prayer pots.

yeah you dont need those items. if your poor you can just bring middle-high items like.
MAGE/MELEE (70+ magic, 70 attack/strength, 65/70 defence,75+hp)
farseer helm
splitbark body
mystic bottom
ring of dueling/ring of recoil
combat bracelet/rockshell gloves/rune gloves/dragon gloves
rockshell boots/rune boots/dragon boots
rune defender/obby shield
rune helm/rockshell helm/dragon helm
rune body/rockshell plate/granite plate/
dragon skirt/guthan skirt (you gotta have a 60+ def armor for legs)
d scimmy/whip/d mace(i recommend d mace if you have 80+ str)
dds
lobsters (8-10)
6 pray pots (4) (only drink the pray pots when your battling the brothers, dont drink when it goes down cuz when in your in the crypt or tunnels it will go down)
tab tele
and for magic spells you can either do air wave or fire blast.
just do fire blast, cheap and hits about the same as air wave.
400 deaths, and about 4000 air runes.
2 restore pots when ahrim drains your stats
when maging, you only really need 20 casts of fire blast for the melee brothers. and melee ahrim and karil. but for me its 20 casts, but i bring more than 400 incase. just bring more if your level magic is low, mines is high.
and the 400 fire blast casts, should last about 20 or 30 trips or more.
out of 6 pray pots i use 3. but i just bring 6 cuz of im afriad to die there.
so about every trip its about 20k-50k. idk not sure, maybe its lower.
but the trick of getting barrows items is this. this will increase your chance of getting barrows items by 50%. what you do is, look at your combat lvl. if its lvl 100. you need to get 50 kill counts. last year i was lvl 90 now lvl 93 havent been on for like 6 months. so 90, what i did was i thought i left my character log out, but it didnt, when i came back 7min laters, i had 43 kill counts. so i made my way to the chest, i killed the stupid skeleton at the chest. and i killed the brother at the chest calling me a thief. and when i opened the chest, i received 2 barrow items karil cross bow and verac flail, deaths, and 1k gp. the trick is divide your cb lvl by 2. like 90/2=45. 45 kill counts you must have. now idk if im right or wrong but im so rich right now, made over 100m in 1 week doing barrows 2 hours a day.
. now im trying to get 94 cb cuz my cb is 93. 93/2=46.5…. what do i have to do? get 46 kill counts and get 1 monster half life?
i think i made about 200 trips. and 170 i got barrows items. well its kinda i got all 200, i guess you can say bolt racks are barrows items? well you wanna know how many guth spears i had? about 14 guth spears. i had to sell them at low price in ge, cuz im soft hearted :p. and on my first 5 trips doing the 45 kill counts, i got torag hammers 5 in a row, really hard to sell em. barrows items that i never got were veracs brassard, ahrims robe top, dharok axe. most items i got was verac helm o.0. about 50. i have a pic of it

Thanks for the post, looks like you’ve had some good rewards from barrows, I haven’t been back there since I got the double drop. I’ve never bothered with the kill count rumours, might try that one next time I go there. I’ve been told that if you kill 1 of each monster it gives the same loot as killing 100 of each though. Slayer dart is cheaper, and the rewards from barrows usually pays the runes you spent there anyway, you don’t need any magic armour for it either.

tips what you can wear to kill fast the brothers:
- full void knight mage armour
- a slayer staff
- a dragon sq schield
- dragon boots
- rune crossbow ( in your inv. for the ahrims )
- 10 runite bolts
- 500 death runes
- 2000 mind runes
- amulet of fury
- ring of wealth / ring of life ( i’m wearing a ring of wealth )
- and some prayer pots

- 70+ range
- 55+ slayer
- 70+ mage
- 70+ prayer

Hey that is a good idea…I’m gonna start barrowing more often now I have just been getting the 10 kc to get into the center. Guess tgat was stupid cuz the best thing I got was torags hammers. =( lol hope that lucks on my side!

I wouldn’t use a cannon at drags, but the drags at the ogre cave can be quiet at times so they might be good to kill, don’t attack the shamans though they are invincible. (you need to do watchtower to gain access to it)

Nice story dude, grats. I just went to barrows 10 minutes ago. See it was my first time and I was scared, I didn’t know much about it either. I killed 5 of them, got into the tunnel and killed the last one, found the door, and answered the wrong thing in my haste…. when i found it a second time i was out of food and ring of life to leave.
I asked my friend to take me back(I’m such a noob i din’t even know how to get there) and reluctently he did. After some hassle i found the door, got into the chest room and opened the chest. Got dharoks helm. Of course me being a level 70 noob i was exited, but I dind’t know that it was worth more then 200-300k, like most of the barrows items. When i put it on the ge to collect my 2-300k, i almost had a heart attack screaming at the top of my lungs when I realized I had earned 3m. I sold it and told my story here. First time ever!

You might not be doing anything wrong, it’s all got to do with luck, apparently the drop rates have dropped since I got the double item chest, the only thing i can think of is to keep trying, you’ll get something eventually.

I used to do barrows all the time, i do the slayer dart trick as well, good method, i got a Dharoks right as it flew up to 3.3 a while back, and it put me at 6M total, then i went pking and lost it all O.O

You have to repair all the pieces, or use them up until they are fully degraded.
You can repair them in your player owned house if you have a armour repair stand in the workshop, or in other players houses. For repairing you need cash to pay for the cost.
Another place to repair it is at Lumbridge, Bob will repair them for you at a cost, he is in the building with an hatchet on the mini map.
The more degraded the item it, the more it will cost to get it repaired, I think it’s about 140k for the whole set not quite sure though.

I did barrows 2 times. first got 100k in death runes. then got karils skirt! I only bring initiate armor, damaged book, maguc shortbow, runes for best spell, ectophial, lots of monkfish and a couple of pray pots. I pray on dharok, karil, and ahrim. I mage em all except ahrim. I range him. once in tunnels I get kc up to 11 and open chest. I only did 2 times and got skirt. Im a lvl 77 with 65 ranged and 60 mage. really easy. oh I don’t melee any of em.

in my… idk me second trip to barrows y get my first barrows item… verac’s helm and me :O:O:O:O:O:O… but me comming to the door and me look one item dropped… karil skirt! :O:O:O in this times the verac helm is on 2.2m and karil skirt 500k… but my best reward… one day me got dh helm with guthans spear… in this times the dh helm is on 3.2m and spear on 2.7m and is :O:O:O:O:O:O:O: xdd

Wow… iv done over 250 runs now and all i have gotten is runes, the last time iv gotten a barrows item was when i was like a level 80 and im a lvl 123, grrr, somethings up? 250 runs and all i ever get is runes and sometimes bolt racks.

What I do is that I get the kc for the price of an item I want for example I wanted verac helm which is worth 4.2I’ll so I got 42kc in a trip and I usually got a crappy loot then I go back to barrows kill brothers and this time I don’t get kc and I get veracs helm. I did this for two days and I made 26mil in two days. I tryed to do 67kc for dh helm but nvr worked idk why but verac helm always worked. =)!!

Well i tried the whole kill count thing being half my combat at least 5 times…. nothing…. to be honest kc doesnt mean jack…. i got dharok helm, and arhims bottom and over 5 warspears all within 1-7 kills….. so disreguard that post near the top… its a sham… anyways good luck guys.. peace!

I tried barrows for the first time after a few years, as I had just accquired the art of the ancient magiks. I was amazed to find I got a barrow item every 5 trips.
#5 – Verac’s Skirt
#10 – Karil’s Skirt
#16 – Karil’s top
#23 – Karil’s top
#26 – Guthan’s legs

Oh and by the way.
To do this I wore barrow’s armour. Any armour that is considered “high level” (namely – barrow, dragon(just) god armour, 3rd age, skill cape) increase chance of barrow item by about 178.333% (Averaged and compared to that of normal armour)

Honestly I think barrows just has to do with luck when you loot the chest, probably not much else contributes to having more luck while doing it. Just for cost and efficiency.

I can’t remember where but I remember reading something about Barrows it purely out of luck and that the only killcount that matter is the Brothers. Every other kills doesn’t matter. It’s the way I thought about how it worked.

Hey guys, I’ve done 32 trips as of this moment and haven’t recieved anything of worth. Do you guys know any way to increase my chances of a drop? I’ve gotten 3k deaths from slayer, and a desperately want to get an item before I sell my runes… Soo frustrating– barrows FTL( IMO at least).

There are many myths about getting higher chance of barrows drop from the chest, but from what I can tell it all just comes down to luck. Keep at it you’ll end up getting something.

You were right-trip 74- recieved a torags helm. A mere 3 trips later I recieved torags hammers. Adding to 900k. More interestingly however, was the fact that I recieved 4.6 mill in runes and racks and the slayer darts. Anyway, that’s for your help guys, and that’s the end of barrows for me.

Hey guys im xx ily 2 xx and I have done barrows for 2 days and did about 8 trips and get usualy get 25 creature killcounts and I cant seem to get and barrow drops just runes and racks does killcount drop my chances of getting a barrow drop.. And how ca I get a barrow drop im level 100 cb and use a torso look and use all melle at barrows plz help pm me or reply on this page for me plz help

ive done afew trips myself never been lucky, i think its just about luck more then anything else, me del and amate done about 5 trips in a row i got nothing del got nothing but his friend got 5 drops in a row we all had the same kill count,

Hey this is a great topic but what I think should be known is that most of you that don’t get items are simply just not trying hard enough. My cb lvl is 130 and I can do over 100 runs in 1 trip. I’ve camped there for days. I can tell you from my experience at barrows that sometimes you have dry streaks. I’ve gone over 30 runs dry before. But in the long run it will pay you back. In about 5-7 minutes I can manage to kill all 6 brothers loot chest and get out ready to repeat. This being said I have done about 10/11 trips an hour. My method is using ancients ice barrage and blood blitz to heal. I use bgs/zs for karil and 2 spec Ahrim with d claws. As for items I usually get about 2 items an hour. Yesturday I recieved karils robetop.guthan helm and spear dharoks legs torags helm guthans platebody v brassard and v skirt all within 3 hours of playing/ watching tv after work lol

i can understand what you are saying but, have done runs with del and a friend and we all done the same amount of kc etc they both got items i did’nt so i’d say it’s more luck based :p but maybe there is another factor who knows lol

It varies from person to person the amount of kills, but to get a chance at dragon med helm or half key I usually did 13+ per run.It is possible to get barrows loot without any kills in the tunnel as well, but doing 13 or so covers the cost of supplies with runes/racks as loot.

im a lvl 96 with only 45 slayer so i cant do slayer dart but i would take the following items on my runs:

whip-borrowed gs (i was poor then)
some supers pots
amulet of glory.
but i was scared of death with my lag so i only went when my other friend did and my best loot was some coins runes torag hammers.
but when i get my 55 slay my members back im going back to barrows baby.

i melee all 6 brothers but from what i have heard im going to do the following:
use slayer dart on karil while useing protect from range
melee dharok guthan and verac
and use magic with ahriem useing blood rush-water wave-guthix’s claws.

An alternatve to slayer dart, is using black salamander for mage attacks, combined with ancient mage you can camp barrows for heaps of runs, I think the best i’ve seen on youtube is about 400 without banking, my personal best is only 19 because lag got me killed on dharok tunnel lol. ( that was before the ring of wealth update).

wow so sorry yea i got slayer dart like few days ago.
cant use black salamanders 2 mage lvls off and like 14 range lvls off
but ive got the lvl now for magic dart so planing to head there in a few days.
tryed ancients… rlly owned me so aint doing that for a while :/
when i go next i will hope for verac helms. and very funny i asked for a dharok pl8 and i got 1 =) bye
