Slaying Bork

November 15, 2009 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Monsters 12 Comments →

Bork is in the chaos tunnels and is 267 combat and attacks with melee and can hit up to 25. He can be killed once every 24 hours if you have 44 slayer and after you have completed the hunt for surok mini quest. Bork gives 2 green, 7 crimson and 5 blue charms per kill, as well as some cash, gems and gives 250  slayer experience (5k for the first kill). During the fight Surok(dagon’hai elite after mini quest) will cast magic spells that can hit up to 27, you can negate this with mage protect prayer as explained later on.

After half killing Bork, he will summon 3-6 ork legions which are level 70 and attack with melee and range and can hit up to 8 each. These drop gold charms and sometimes green or other charms but most of the time they are gold. You can negate these attacks by putting on the protect from summoning prayer.

This is the inventory I take to bork (note: the ground bait was for my guthix chick, you can take a familiar with you if you need to).

bork inv

The melee gear I take with me is below and I use mage protect prayer for surok.

bork equip

I have made a map from the world map taken ingame on runescape, the red squares are the portals to use to get to bork.

map to bork

Run through the wildy towards the zamorak mage from edgeville then go west until you find the entry into the chaos tunnels. You will be at the gargoyles area if you did this right. (note: sometimes while going through the portals it can take you to the wrong place.)

Bork is relatively easy although I haven’t tried at lower levels, I kill off the ork legions as they appear, although other may decide to kill off bork as when he dies they do too. Bork is immune to poison. After you kill him the dagon’hai elite will teleport out then the chaos tunnels will start to collapse and you get hurt every now and then by falling rocks, like when you loot the barrows chest. You can use your black mask/slayer helmet for the attack and strength bonus on bork.

Hope this guide helps good luck all and happy bork slaying. :)

Slaying Warped Tortoises

June 16, 2009 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Monsters 4 Comments →

In this guide I will show how to range them, and the gear I take to melee them as well. I have only ranged these once, but with that task I made about 500k cash from the loot. (NOTE: you have to do the path of glouphrie quest to be able to access these.)

Warped tortoises are 96 combat and give 87 slayer experience each, they attack with melee also have low defence and also re spawn very fast . The spot I use only has 2 tortoises, but it doesn’t have any warped terrorbirds, which can be a pain to deal with. The area is also multi combat so you can take a fighting familiar with you if you like. You have to use the crystal chimes on them to cleanse them, the only way you can damage them. The chimes only work for 1 minute then you have to cleanse them again, normally can kill them in that time because of the low defence though. :)

To get to the poisoned dungeon you can use the spirit trees to teleport just north east of the entrance. Which is also handy for banking, as you can use to the spirit tree to teleport to grand exchange and back again for the next load.

The first method I’ll show is the ranging method. This is the safespot I used:

Below is the inventory I used.

very basic inventory, possibly take 2-3 monkfish until you get use to the safe spot.

This is the equipment I used, you could use armadyl or black dragon hide instead of the void.
You could use ranger boots instead of the snakeskin boots I had, didn't make much difference though.

It took me 2 loads to kill around 170 warped tortoises with range, mainly because of the loot I was getting. You could use a war tortoise or another familiar that can carry items to get around that though, like I do with the melee method mentioned below.

This is the melee method. Below is the equipment I used, I borrowed the saradomin godsword. :)

This was the only melee armour I had at the time, you could use bandos or other melee armours though as they rarely hit.

This is the inventory I took, note that the potions are only (2)’s I was using them up to make bank space, I recommend taking (4)’s if you can.
Again a very basic inventory, you may need more food depending on your armour and defence, I didn't need the monkfish because of the SGS' special.

Warped tortoises drop alot of decent loot including: 1-3 tortoise shells, rune warhammers, rune pickaxes, noted coal and mith ore, swamp tar, law runes cash and a low amount of charms. Below is the loot I got from the range task, note that I made 254k the load before.
Everything that was stackable I kept in the inv when I went back to kill them again. The load before hand was worth 254k including the stackables, it had 4 rune picks, 1 warhammer and 13 shells.

Range Slaying Jellies

May 31, 2009 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Monsters No Comments →

I got assigned to slay 137 jellies from Summona, decided to try range them. It has been a while since I have had jellies for a slayer task, so my inventory is probably way over what you need, I took a lucky guess with it. :)

This is what the jellies look like.

This is what the jellies look like.

Jellies are 78 combat and have 75 hitpoints. They attack with magic based melee, like the bloodvelds do. There are a few places to kill them, including soul wars, chaos tunnels (has poison spiders in there so be careful), Mahjarrat ritual cave and the place I chose the slayer caves east of rellekka.

The inventory I used is shown in the picture below, as I stated earlier I guessed the amount of food/potions.

I didn't need much food at all. So I overshot that by far, others with lower magic defence might need more though.

The equipment I used was full void as shown below in the picture.

I used broad bolts again, they are great for ranging. The ranger boots are borrowed, currently too poor to buy my own. :(

Jellies dropped a decent rate of green charms, and coin drops. The picture below shows the loot I got from this task.

as you can see I didn't use any food at all, and they drop a decent amount of coins and green charms, heaps of steel weapons but i left them.

as you can see I didn't use any food at all, and they drop a decent amount of coins and green charms, heaps of steel weapons but i left them.

All in all this task was alot easier and went quicker then I expected. If you need to there are some safe spots around, but I found they didn’t hit quite enough to bother with the safe spots. It is possible to melee these if you like, the gear I’d suggest to melee them would be something similar to what I suggested with the bloodveld guide as they use the same type of attacks, although they don’t hit high they can hit often on lower levels.

If you have any questions suggestions or comments about this guide comment below, i’ll be happy to help you. :)

How To Slay Kurasks With Range

May 27, 2009 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Monsters No Comments →

As I mentioned in some of my comments on other slayer guides we have wrote on this blog, I have started ranging my slayer tasks I get given from Summona. Most of the guides I will be writing for slayer for now will be based like this, hope this one helps. :)

I got assigned to kill 121 kurasks today, I tested out using the broad tipped bolts with void. They are surprisingly strong bolts, they ended up being the same strength as adamant bolts. The bolts were hitting between 30-40 for me with 98 range, making it seem faster then the old method of killing kurasks with the leaf bladed spear. They are level 106 and give 97 slayer experience each.

Below is the safe spot I used for the task, you rarely get hit on the way back to it, when the kurasks get non aggressive towards you, run back into the turoth area and back again or to the other side of the kurask area to make them aggressive towards you again.

This is the safespot for the kurasks in the slayer caves, there may be more spots but this is the safest one I found.

This is the safespot for the kurasks in the slayer caves, there may be more spots but this is the safest one I found.

The inventory I used for this task is shown below, I guessed with the amount of potions and food, as it has been a while since I have killed them. It may be worth taking a chisel and some alch runes as they drop the occasional adamant plate body  and gems too. You shouldn’t need that much food, they rarely hit you when you run to collect loot and bolts.

The potions are ranging potions, the kurasks also drop the occasional range potion (1) so you might not need this many potions.

The equipment I used is in the picture below, I used snakeskin boots because I currently can’t afford ranger boots as I spent most of my cash on skills.

The slayer ring is so I can teleport to summona after the task, and to keep track of amount left to kill.

This is the loot I got from the task, the kurasks dropped heaps of unfinished broad bolts and arrowheads usually 30+ per drop. They dropped green charms mostly as you can tell by the picture below, but at a low rate, so not recommended to kill these if you are after charms. They dropped a few gold charms, but I don’t pick them up anymore, as they are too slow for summoning experience for me now.

The herb is a ranarr weed, and the seeds are kwuarm seeds.

How To Kill Revenants With Ease!

March 10, 2009 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Monsters 24 Comments →

Have you ever had problems with revenants in high level wildy? Or have you ever wanted to kill revenants but didn’t know what to take and what to expect from them in return? Well I’ve got the answers for you in this guide and much more!

First of all, revenants no matter what type or level will attack with all 3 styles of combat (mage range and melee). They can freeze you with range, tele block with you mage and hit pretty hard with melee. They can also poison you for 8 damage. Rev knight for example can hit 30s with all types of combat so no matter your level if you get a few on you expect a bit of trouble if your not quick at eating. Always weigh up the odds before running into a group of revs in multi combat areas such as near the agility course in high wildy.

The levels of revenants vary from level 7 imp to a level 135 dragon. The most common revs I’ve found are orks which are level 105 and knights which are 126. You don’t need an anti fire shield for the level 135 dragon as some people have thought. In my whole revenant hunting experience, I have only found 1 or 2 rev dragons, most of the time while runecrafting in the abyss.

Below is the inventory I take for them, with this inventory I just killed a rev knight and chaos elemental together while helping my friend do their clue scroll while only using 7 sharks, while using piety the whole time so used half a super restore potion as well.

the holy wrench is for the extra prayer points, and lowered rate of prayer drain.

the holy wrench is for the extra prayer points, and lowered rate of prayer drain.

The potions are 2 super restore, 1 super anti poison and a super set (attack, strength and defence). Below is the equipment I take for rev hunting.

rev killing equipment

the ring is jennica's ring from summer end, it gives more rewards from revs when you kill them and allows you to teleport through portals if you need to.

I take the karils armour because it gives a decent all round defence and doesn’t cost too much. You can swap the fury amulet for a salve amulet if you like, as revs are undead so the bonus’ will work on them. If you don’t want to risk that much cash on the items I have above, you can use black dhide instead of the karils, mage arena cape instead of skill cape, and other stuff like that.

Not many people bother with revenants and just run away from them. The best thing they drop is a DDS or drag dagger p++ I think, although I’ve always only got coins. I find them to be fun to do when I’m bored or whenever a friend wants help with wildy clues. If you want to hunt them always go in high wilderness as there are a few hotspots for them as I’ve found when I did a 2-3hr hunting trip with my mate one night. Some of the hotspots are: rune rocks, greater demon ruins, pirates hut, chaos elemental, agility course, rouges castle, mage arena bank and the lever from ardy. I will list more if I found some.

If you have any suggestions on how to make this guide more helpful, or if you just want to ask for help with a wildy clue or just some general questions about this guide. Leave a comment and I’ll try to help you if I can.

Thanks and good luck with your revenant hunting. :)

Slaying Mutated Bloodvelds

March 02, 2009 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Monsters 2 Comments →

Earlier this week I started doing slayer again since I got 99 defence. Mutated bloodvelds are by far give the best slayer experience for the time spent on the task, and are the best to use a cannon for in my opinion. They are level 126 and 146 and have 178 hp for the 126 and 196 for the 146. To get to them you need to have finished the legacy of seergaze quest. They are like the normal bloodvelds as they attack with magic based melee, but because I used the cannon I just used protect from melee prayer.

This is the equipment I used for the mutated bloodveld task.

This is the equipment I used for the mutated bloodveld task.

A quick way to get to them instead of going through the maze all over again through meiyerditch, is to go through the abyss and go through the blood teleport, although if you have some blood altar tele tabs from the great orb project mini game they work better as you don’t lose your prayer then. Once at the outside of the altar, head east til you can go south into the room shown in the picture below.

This is the cannon spot and the map of the room I use for the mutated bloodvelds.

This is the cannon spot and the map of the room I use for the mutated bloodvelds.

For the task of 183 mutated bloodvelds it took all 2k of the cannonballs I took with me, but it might take more or less depending on the amount you get given, as well as how accurate and quick you kill them yourself too. I also suggest taking a familiar to either hold your stuff when you pick up your cannon when your task is done, and or to take one to help kill off the bloodvelds like I did with the geyser titan.

The mutated bloodvelds are good for gold charms, not so good for green charms like the normal bloodvelds are. They are good for runes aswell, they drop all elemental runes except waters 50 at a time. The orange potion in the picture below is a zamorak brew, it gives +20% attack and +12% strength,  but lowers defence and hitpoints by 10% which doesn’t matter much for these as you are using prayer all the time anyway.

this is a picture of my 183 mutated bloodveld task, I had to drop the fire runes to pick up my cannon though.

This is a picture of my 183 mutated bloodveld task, I had to drop the fire runes to pick up my cannon though.

Sorry about the bad quality of the picture for arrows and throwing knives, the arrows were rune they drop them 6 at a time, and the 190 throwing knives were addy and the others were rune. The dds was to do specials on them to kill them off quickly, but that isn’t needed anymore since you don’t get as many randoms during the tasks. I took too many prayer potions for the task as I haven’t had these in a while, I suggest around 8 for the whole task depending on your prayer level, mine was 80 at the time of this task.

this is basically what to take to the mutated bloodvelds, add in the cannon and cannonballs though, and the 2nd zam brew should be a 4 not a 3.

Hope this guide has helped, happy mutated bloodveld slaying!

Slaying The Phoenix Guide

January 28, 2009 By: Delarue64 Category: runescape mini games, Runescape Monsters No Comments →

To do the phoenix slaying mini game everyday you have to complete the in pyre need quest, which I have already made a guide on if you would like to see it click here. You also have to have 51 slayer to kill the phoenix, you recieve 5k slayer xp the first time and 500 xp there on, aswell as 7.5k firemaking xp per kill aswell.  Everytime you kill the phoenix it gets reborn into a baby phoenix again giving it unlimited life, after you kill it talk to it to get 5 phoenix feathers which can be used to make phoenix pouchs (level 72 summoning required).

Some people might have problems with the equipment I use, so just adjust it to suit your own needs. This is the equipment I use.

You can use any other skill cape or even a fire cape would work great, I just take this armour as karils has a decent all round defence for magic melee and range so I don’t need to pray as much. The falador shield 3 is for the fight against the phoenix as it has a good prayer bonus and can give me full prayer restore once a day. Explorer ring 3 gives prayer and magic defence +1 aswell as 50% energy restore 3 times per day so it comes in handy for the cave aswell, for some people you may want to use a different ring such as a ring of life until you get use to the risks of fighting through the cave.

This is the inventory I take, I would suggest taking some summoning familiars with you, but at the moment there is still the glitch where it disappears after 2 floors and you can’t call it or summon a new familiar til you log out. If you log out or lag out during the cave you have to start all over again.

For lower levels it might be worth taking tuna potatoes and more of them as the monsters in the cave can hit high and it is multi combat. I take the enchanted excalibur as it gives free defence pot dose aswell as 20 hp or so healing in a quick time period. You need the secateurs, knife and tinderbox at all times or you can’t go through the cave at all. The lunar staff is to get the entrance easier with fairy rings ( the fairy ring is south east of the entrance and the code is AKQ). The prayer potion is just incase I run out of food or need extra prayer on the phoenix at the end. I use the dds if I can on the phoenix, it doesn’t seem to get poisoned, but it does quick damage to it if you get good specials. Use Protect from mage prayer against the phoenix as it can hit 20+s pretty consistantly if you don’t.

Earlier today I killed all the monsters in the cave on the way to the phoenix aswell as the phoenix when I got there and this is the loot I got from it.

The creatures drop the occasional potion and food such as super set range pots, lobsters and curry. Sorry about the picture you can’t see the arrows and bolts very well they were rune and adamant arrows and addy bolts, the herbs were ranarr and dwarf weed. They also drop some talismans and crossbow string at times too.

Anyway I hope this little guide helps, any questions let me know and I’ll see if I can help. :)

Delarue64 Gets 99 Defence Thanks To Slayer!

January 05, 2009 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Items, runescape mini games, Runescape Monsters, Runescape skills 2 Comments →

Hi everyone, I acheived 99 defence last night. I thought I’d do a post about it, took a screenshot of getting 99. I made a video about it, will put that on youtube later on this year when I fix it up with the other 99s I achieved in 2008. Below is a screenshot of me getting 99 defence, I am the one in bronze armour with the fire cape on. I had a number of friends come along to my 99 defence party, they were Crowlion, Aj 692, Smiffy287, Halo3316, Slayer 6711 and Zee120. Thanks to everyone that came, couldn’t have done all the training without the support. :)

I got the last 5 experience for 99 on a level 1 rat in lumbridge with full bronze armour and bronze two hand sword. That’s about it for this post I think, anything else I think of I’ll put in.

I have uploaded the video on youtube, I have embedded it to this post just below. Enjoy!

If anyone wants to know what to train on, I suggest doing slayer if you are a member because it gives you a variety of monsters to kill so you don’t get bored, aswell as all the random loot you get from coins to dragon items or even a draconic visage if you get dragons. Goodluck with all your training and slaying if you choose to do some slayer. :)

Tips For Slaying Dark Beasts

October 25, 2008 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Monsters 8 Comments →

Last night I got my first dark beast task, they took a while for me to find because it’s been ages since I did the mournings end quests but I found it in the long run. :) To do dark beasts you have to have 90+ slayer and have to atleast started mourning’s end 2. They are level 182 and have 225 hitpoints and also give 225 slayer exp each, aswell as around 900 experience in your method of killing. Dark beasts are always aggressive and attack with magic and melee, the magic attack is only the first attack if you are out of range of their melee attack (if you stand still its only 1, if you move its more then 1). The magic attack looks like a fire blast spell.

This is the equipment I took to the dark beasts.

I took the strength cape (t) because I was after prayer bonus more then strength, you can use fire cape if you prefer. The proselyte armour is for prayer bonus, and the saradomin sword is for an extra inventory spot for when you have to wear the mourners gear to enter the area aswell as extra prayer bonus. You can use a whip and shield if you like, but I prefer taking an extra prayer potion then having an extra free space. There is a rune mining rock located in the far north west section as seen in the picture below so if you have 85+ mining it might be worth taking a rune pickaxe aswell for the occasional runite ore.

The only things I missed with my inventory was to swap the ardrougne teleport tablets to the karmaja gloves and to take a holy wrench to make the prayer pots last more, but the 16 prayer potions I took was enough for the 167 dark beast task, with 2 doses to spare.

The dark beasts are the only monster that drops the dark bow, I was lucky enough to get one on my first task, pretty quickly too I think it was within the first 50 kills or so. They drop alot of adamant square shields, and death talismans and a decent amount of chaos, death and blood runes. Dark beasts seem to be good for blue charms too as you can tell from my loot picture below.

I used protect from melee prayer all the time as that is what they mainly attack with, be careful if you see someone else slaying dark beasts, as the dark beasts can swap opponents if someone gets to close to each other. If you need space while killing the dark beasts, you can drop the new key because you can always get another one from the desk near the head mourner which is near the entrance of the dark beasts.

To enter the dark beast lair you have to be in full mourner gear and have no other visible items on and the new key to unlock the door. An example of this is in the picture below.

Slaying dark beasts can be very long and boring but well worth it in experience and loot wise, this task took about 2-3 hours. If you have any questions about the guide let us know and we will try to help as much as we can. :)

Have fun slaying dark beasts and good luck with your dark bow drops.

How To Slay Waterfiends

October 23, 2008 By: Delarue64 Category: Runescape Monsters 50 Comments →

When I first had a waterfiend task I blocked them because I thought that they would be too hard, kinda like I did with skeletal wyverns, but after a little research on other sites I found out that they weren’t as bad as they looked. :) The waterfiends are level 115 and give 128 slayer experience per kill, they attack with magic and range.  I recommend having 80+ in melee stats aswell as hitpoints, and atleast 40+ prayer and 70 range and defence for the karils armour. If you want to do these for training instead of slayer change the slayer helmet to neitznoit. I don’t recommend going to the waterfiends in the chaos tunnels, as it is multi combat, and waterfiends can be a handful with just 1v1.

(NOTE: to do waterfiends using this method you have to do some of the barbarian training from the barbarian on the lake outside the cave). I don’t recommend doing these if you lag alot, as they can kill pretty quickly if your not careful.

The easiest way to get to the waterfiends is to use a games necklace to barbarian outpost then put it in the bank in the deposit box inside the barbarian assault building. Then head south til you get to a pier with a whirlpool at the end of it. Enter the whirlpool, before you go down the stairs on the next level pot up and put your protect from magic prayer on to avoid the mage attacks from the brutal green dragons, and make sure you have a anti dragon breath shield or dragonfire shield on or you won’t make it to the waterfiends (you can drop the anti dragonbreath shield if you are only going to use 2handed weapons as there won’t be anymore brutal green dragons to worry about while in this area).

equipment for waterfiends

Above is the equipment I used to kill them, except for the sgs for specials, you can change the slayer ring to another ring if you like, I use this ring now if I have a long slayer task like this one was.

Once your ready to go down, head south past the brutal drags then west when you can til you get to the waterfiends, put on range prayer and your weapon, unless your using a 1 handed weapon of course. Waterfiends are weak against crush attacks so I recommend using a saradomin sword as it is fast and very accurate for the crush style attack. If you can’t afford to buy a saradomin sword, I recommend using a zamorakian spear as it is the second best crush weapon in my opinion besides the godswords, but they’re too slow for the waterfiends except they are good for specials (especially the saradomin godsword as it heals hitpoints and prayer with 1 special).

I usually take 2-3 bunyips (depending on amount assigned) 10 p pots 1 super restore/summoning potion, 1 super set, holy wrench, teletab or another quick teleport out, 100-200 swallow whole scrolls for the bunyips as the watefiends drop alot of raw sharks and lobsters and the rest sharks or tuna potatoes. I use berserker ring now instead of the ring of life, although you could use an explorer ring aswell as it gives a teleport and +1 prayer bonus, I recommend using ring of life the first time you go down there as it might be tricky at first.

Keep the range prayer on all the time until they become unaggressive, which is usually about 8-10 minutes of killing. Then turn on and off after you kill them. There is a log near the waterfiend spot that takes you out of the cave if you happen to forget a teleport. Some people take guthans with them to help, I tested it out and found that you get hit more with guthans on no matter what prayer you have on, if you do use guthans its best to use mage prayer as it doesnt have that great of mage defence but has a good range defence.

task of 181 waterfiends completed loot

The picture above is from a 181 waterfiend task I completed a couple days ago, the godsword is a saradomin godsword which I borrowed from a friend, it works great there, rarely need to eat or use prayer potions. On this occasion I forgot to take the swallow whole scrolls, but it didn’t seem to make much difference, and I only took 5 prayer potions aswell. I accidently took 5 bunyips thats why there is 2 leftover in the inv still. The herb seeds were lantadyme and ranarr.

Some people range these when they get the waterfiends unaggressive, but in my opinion it just doesnt keep up with the rate of crimsons that melee gives. I haven’t tried it though, the waterfiends give heaps of mithril arrows so I guess it’s endless arrows there. Waterfiends also give heaps of crimson charms about 80% of kills have crimsons, and 90% are atleast a charm. They also drop alot of water orbs, water runes, mithril ore, seaweed, snape grass, blood and death runes which makes them very profitable and suitable for summoning and ancient supplies aswell as you can see in the above picture.

I hope this guide comes in handy for people wondering about waterfiends. I will add a map of how to get to the spot in the cave aswell as an inventory picture of what I take there.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask I’m sure I can help you out. :)

Goodluck with your waterfiend slaying.
