Summoning And Hairstyle Update

April 28, 2009 By: BRT Cj Category: Runescape News 1 Comment →

Jagex has just updated runescape again, this time with an update going to the summoning and hairstyles area. 🙂 The summoning update looks great, will test it out later when I log back in. Yay more pets too, although I never reached the limit before anyway. I think it’s about time I got a haircut on runescape, haven’t had one in a year or so, will check it out now.

One of the core aims of Upgrade Year is that we take a close look at existing content and make it better – this week this concerns Summoning and hairstyles: better usability, more pets and the return of the fringe.

You have provided us with so many ideas to improve the Summoning skill that we were spoilt for choice, and our wish list of improvements is getting longer and longer, but for now we have decided on the following improvements.

Firstly, we have raised the pet limit so that you can have twice as many pets as before. This seemingly simple change led to a major background change, which will improve the stability of the code so you will experience fewer bugs in future. Secondly, you don’t need to wait until a familiar has disappeared to use the next pouch; now you click a handy button in the Summoning interface to replenish your familiar’s timer to 100% when it has dropped below two and a half minutes. So, if you use beasts of burden to help carry things around, you can now use this button to keep them going, as long as you have another pouch of the same type in your inventory. Additionally, we have made it much more straightforward to trade in your pouches and scrolls with Bogrog, the ogre in Gu’Tanoth.

We often receive comments about and suggestions for new hairstyles from players on the forums. In particular, we read players’ complaints that there was once a female hairstyle with a fringe that got removed. We searched and searched, but could not find any indication that this was ever the case, so we scratched our heads for a while…and then created one! Enjoy your fringes, and perhaps you might like to pay a visit to Party Pete to try out a special new hairstyle designed for partying.

Lilies of the valley have also blossomed around RuneScape. These fragrant spring flowers will stay until the next game update to celebrate the start of May.

Last but not least, we would like to point you towards a new link in the quest journals. The QuestHelp system is now accessible directly from your quest journal, and you don’t even need to log into the website to access either a hint or a spoiler for a quest.

As you’ll notice, this set of updates isn’t as large as you might have hoped, for which we apologise. A project we were hoping to release this week was found to have bugs, and so has been delayed until next week. While we’re aware that these are relatively small fixes, we hope that you’ll appreciate them nonetheless.

Tales Of The Muspah Quest Release

April 22, 2009 By: BRT Cj Category: Runescape quests 3 Comments →

Yet another quest has been released on runescape tonight, looks like it won’t be worth the effort from the quest requirements but hopefully it gives something good out of it. I’ll try it tomorrow and let you know how I go. 🙂 Good luck to everyone that tries it before I do.

Experienced adventurers will be familiar with Fremennik rites of passage, and the difficulties they present. It’s little wonder, then, that Fremennik children are always on the lookout for an easier path to adulthood, and Erjolf is no exception. Full of enthusiasm but short on skills, Erjolf will need your assistance if he is going to impress his kinsfolk.

Join him in his quest for a trophy, unravel the puzzling story behind a curious corpse, and discover the dark secrets of one of the most fearsome races to ever walk in Gielinor. You may find one or two useful allies along the way, who are willing to lend a helping hand.

It’s been great to work on a quest that involves one of RuneScape’s most mysterious races, and develop a plotline that’s been around since the early days of RuneScape. This is the first part of a new quest series, and paves the way for following quests.

10 Magic
10 Woodcutting
8 Mining
6 Firemaking
20 Crafting would be an advantage

Picking from a tree or bush has been sped up.

Several items that previously damaged you when used can no longer kill you. Don’t worry, though – you can still use them to reduce your Hitpoints if you want to.

The Easter 2009 update has now been removed, and the associated music unlocked for all.

Money Making Poll

Please comment on this post as to what your favourite method of making money is. My personal favourites are doing slayer, killing high monsters and money making skills. I have never been good at merchanting but have done a little bit of that in the past. Hope to hear from you soon. 🙂

Easter Event 2009 Update

April 08, 2009 By: BRT Cj Category: Runescape News 2 Comments →

Jagex just updated runescape and added in the easter event for 2009, I personally don’t do most of the events unless it looks worth doing. Hope this year’s is good.  The reward isn’t worth it in my opinion but others might find it useful, you get an easter carrot that you can whack people with (kinda like the rubber chicken) and an emote.

This is the easter carrot and the stats for it.

Happy easter for everyone this weekend. 🙂

The Easter Bunny seems to have been around forever. Or has he? What makes him seem immortal? This Easter, calamity has once again befallen his factory, and he needs your help to solve the problem. As well as giving you the chance to fix some impressive machinery, and deal with some colourful (but less than helpful) characters, Splitting Heirs will also give our free players a taste of what it’s like to catch implings.

This event revisits the past, so if you’ve played previous Easter events you’ll recognise the incubator from 2008 and the Easter Bird from 2006. Find out what makes the Easter Bunny tick, and you could also earn yourself a new fun weapon. So what are you waiting for? Go seek out the Easter Bunny!

The layout of the welcome screen has been changed slightly to allow us to add further information to it in the future.

Pyre logs now have a ‘Make-X’, and code for this has been significantly reworked. Also, any bonus experience gains from the All Fired Up quest rewards should now properly apply.

The April Fools’ cabbages have now been removed from the game, and seagulls have been removed from the Hunter skill.

The speed at which your prayers activate should now be back to normal, without the delay some players have been experiencing.

Glorious Memories Quest Release

April 01, 2009 By: BRT Cj Category: Runescape News No Comments →

Jagex has released yet another quest today. 🙂 I think this one is the 152nd or thereabouts. It looks good, always liked the Rellekka quests, hopefully this one will give a good reward like the other ones did. Going to try it out now, will let you know how I go. Good luck. 🙂

When you’ve settled all the conflicts you can find, and brought together warring nations across the northern seas, it’s time to kick back and have a party, right?

If only it were that simple. Peace between sovereign states is one thing, but Manni the Reveller still can’t bring everyone together for Chieftain Brundt’s birthday feast.

See old friends in new ways as you delve into the mysteries of the past, and help them resolve the problems of the present. To save the chieftain’s birthday celebrations you’ll have to uncover the secrets they can’t remember, and confront a monster they want to forget.

Glorious Memories is my first quest and it has been a real joy to write and develop. I know a lot of you are big fans of the Fremennik peoples (so am I), and I hope that you have as much fun as I did uncovering the history of these fascinating characters.
Mod Hew

Where to start Glorious Memories:
Speak to Manni the Reveller in the longhall in Rellekka.

Requirements to begin Glorious Memories:
Level 57 Magic
Level 50 Agility
Level 43 Herblore
Level 41 Hunter
Must have completed Royal Trouble
Must have completed The Fremennik Isles
Must have completed Mountain Daughter
You should be able to defeat a level 156 opponent who attacks in a variety of ways, and survive in a multi-way combat area with foes of around level 90

In Other News…

The logic governing the behavior of items kept on death has been fixed for certain circumstances involving stacks of items, such as coins. If in doubt about what is at risk, double check your Items Kept on Death interface.

There is a new button on the bank interface to allow you to set your PIN more easily, if you don’t already have one.

It should now take you less time to switch your prayers on and off, due to code shuffling.

If the cabbages are annoying you, just turn Accept Aid off.
